I have been spending time here in Fairfax, Virginia with a former co-worker from Seattle. It is beautiful here--very green. When we drive along the roads, everything seems to be hidden behind the trees--it is hard to find a gas station or a restaurant because of this.
We get up early in the morning (when it is nice and cool) to drink coffee outside and watch the birds using the bird feeder and listen to their songs.
The metro here is so convenient--certainly wish we had the same in Seattle. It is well used and easy to figure out. I've gone into Washington D.C. several times--twice met a client that has a restaurant downtown. Went to the Smithsonian and also the International Spy Museum. People have been very friendly here and this is a place that I would recommend to both visit and settle.
