THE ELECTION

Broker Dan ask in his blog "Who will win?"  I got so busy and cranked up with a response I decided to start over with my own blog.

I have no idea who is going to win the elections, but I sure would like the folks in government to start listening to the people--that goes for, local, State and Federal.  Aren't we all tired of all of the "pork" put in before they pass bills (we are the ones that pay for that).  I am tired of thinking of public servants not having any ethics.  And, I am really tired of someone having to have money (lots of it) to get elected.

I don't think when our government was set up, that the elected officials were supposed to stay in government a long time.  I think they were suppose to do their public service and then go back to their homes and make their livings.  Government officials have become part of a "club" and seem to act like the rules that apply to regular folks do not apply to them.  They vote themselves raises, get better health care and retirements than anyone else.

We are geared to only having two parties and neither one is doing a good enough job.  This "grid lock" needs to stop; we are paying these folks a great deal of money to get things done.  I want to elect someone that has business sense, ethics, fairness and wants to do "what is right," not what "the party" or special interests want.

Guess I just had to vent--now it is your turn!

ARE YOU GOING OUT OF THE COUNTRY ON VACATION--IS YOUR PASSPORT UP TO DATE?

As the holiday season approaches - the vacation season approaches as well. And if you haven't yet gotten a passport for yourself or your family members - better act now.

While a birth certificate used to do the trick for traveling out of the country, effective January 8, 2007, all US citizens leaving the country and traveling by air will be required to present a valid passport. Yep, even the kids. Why? Better security and safety. Passports are much more uniform than birth certificates, making it much easier for border and security officials to detect any forgery, and help prevent unauthorized entry into the US.

The processing of a passport can take several weeks - so even if you don't have a trip immediately planned, get started now. Here are a few helpful links:

If you are applying for a passport for the first time, simply hit this link - First Time Passport Help - for instructions on how and where to obtain a passport, and to download the required forms to save time. When applying for the first time, you must apply in person at one of the 7,000 passport acceptance facilities.

If you need to renew a passport, the renewal can be done by mail, simply hit this link - Passport Renewal Help - to download the required forms.

And pass this on to your friends, family members and coworkers - they'll thank you when they can get back into the country after their holiday vacation...

Some very kind person just sent this to me and it is so timely!  I am going on a vacation this month to Belize and completely forgot to find my passport--I am just hoping it is still valid.

Look Up Your Ancestors Free for Three Days

I was watching Good Morning America and they were tracing the roots of Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, Chris Cuomo and Sam Champion and at the end they announced that you can go on their website and then link to Ancestry.com and get three days to search your ancestors for free.  This is of interest to me because I haven't been able to trace my maternal grandfather very far back.

You click under the heading Be Seen Be Heard about the third item down.  I know I am related to the "Queen of Scotts" (just kidding.)

YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU WILL MEET AT AN OPEN HOUSE

I held an open house for another agent and one of the tenants is a published artist.  He illustrated this book and it came on the market last Spring.  Since he is one of those "poor starving artists," I thought it may interest you as a Christmas gift.  It is a children's story with a good message.  It is a story about a very odd woman and her house that is looked down upon in the neighborhood (the message is basically, "don't judge a book by its cover.".  It costs around $15. and you can get it at Amazon.com

The illustrator, Robert Rogalski, is also a puppeteer--I expect to see great things from him in the future.
